MAY 2017

A diamond as old as the earth itself, Graff is proud to announce the acquisition of a spectacular 373 carat rough diamond from the Karowe mine in Botswana.

At over 3 billion years old, it was likely formed while the Earth was still being created. Once part of the Lesedi La Rona, the diamond was separated from its famous sibling during the recovery process. Now, under the careful watch of Laurence Graff and his team of gemologists and master cutters, it will follow its destiny.

Measuring 48 x 41 x 22mm, it is the second largest gem quality diamond ever discovered and the largest in more than a century. Its transparency and quality are still more extraordinary given its significant size, and it is no wonder that this stone already carries a mysterious allure.

Laurence Graff commented, “Every diamond has an inner script that we must read and respect. We will now spend time discovering the secrets of this magnificent stone. Knowing that nature has given us this extraordinary gift, we take on the great responsibility of releasing its inner beauty.”

Throughout its history, Graff has been a prominent guardian of the most exceptional stones. From The Venus – at 118.78 carats the largest D Flawless heart shape diamond in the world to The Constellation, the largest D Flawless round brilliant cut diamond, and The Delaire Sunrise, the most significant square emerald cut Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond, it continues to push the boundaries of innovation and excellence.
